Efforts at getting more Nigerians into the insurance net and boosting the culture of insurance among citizens of Lagos State received a major boost on Tuesday with the handing over
of verification devices to officials of Lagos State Government at a brief but eventful ceremony, the Permanent
Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu promised that officials of the state Vehicle Inspection Service would put the devices to effective use.

Earlier in his speech, the NIA Chairman, Mr. GUS Wiggle noted that it was regrettable that many motorists have failed to appreciate the need to obtain genuine insurance documents from
registered insurance companies and have kept the culture of patronizing fake insurance documents in spite of the dangers attached.

He further disclosed that the devices were configured to assist the Vehicle Inspection Officers in the effective discharge of their duties, adding that with the right attitude, Nigerian will
further appreciate the value of having genuine insurance documents instead of patronizing touts.

He said that the device is already in use in Ogun State and Abuja and it is expected that more States would deploy the device before the end of the year.
